A beautiful evergreen sumac that is native to areas of southern California, Arizona and into Baja California below 4,000 feet in elevation. Makes a large shrub or small tree that is attractive year round with its glossy round leaves, bright pink or white flower clusters in the spring and dark red fruits later in the season. The Cahuilla Indians used the leaves and bark for medicinal purposes and ate the sweet fruit. Also fruits re loved by many birds and wildlife. Truly a great fire resistant native California plant for the edible landscape. Can live 100 years and is hardy from zones 7-11.
