Considered to be one of the greatest conifers of the Western US, and the world. The largest member of the Pinus genus it can grow to over 200 feet tall with trunk diameters of 6 to 10 feet! A very gorgeous tree with soft long needled foliage. It is also known for its exceptionally long cones that can be up to 26" long, the longest cones of any pine. It is considered a nut pine as the seeds are excellent for human and wildlife food. Prized for its excellent timber it has become much rarer in its natural habitat. All the more reason to plant them now for future generations to enjoy!
