Cascara makes a beautiful small to mid sized tree. Native to the west coast of North America and the Rocky Mountains, it prefers moist locations. A great garden plant that is attractive year around with mottled gray bark, soft distinctively ridged dark green leaves, creamy flowers loved by butterflies, purple fruits relished by the birds and beautiful golden and pink fall. color The inner bark is used commercially as a laxative having very powerful properties this way. Another great native plant for the edible landscape. Hardy down to zone 6.
